Policies of Veterinary Medicine

Based on our school philosophies, Rakuno Gakuen University Graduate School’s goals are pursuing both theoretical and practical academic research in the fields of Dairy Science and Veterinary Medicine, unraveling the mysteries of these fields, and contributing to cultural and scientific development.

Based on the founding principles of Rakuno Gakuen, the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine pursues goals of creatively promoting research and development in veterinary medicine and related fields, and using these results to contribute to human welfare as well as the harmonization and coexistence between animals, humans, and our environment. Furthermore, the School effectively utilizes its connectivity with Rakuno Gakuen’s undergraduate faculty and academic cluster education to create highly specialized technologists and researchers capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

Admission Policy

[Doctoral Course] Veterinary Medicine

In accordance with the founding principles of Rakuno Gakuen University, the goal of the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine is to pursue education and research of the diversifying and advancing fields of veterinary medicine and related sciences, cultivating in its students a rich humanity which respects life and nature, and fostering them into experts capable of contributing to human and animal welfare as well as the harmonization and coexistence of animals, humankind, and our environment. With an international perspective, these professionals will become leaders in the next generation of research and education in veterinary medicine and related fields. Accordingly, the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine shall admit students with an understanding of our school philosophies, who hold both great potential to master the latest knowledge and technologies, as well as a strong enthusiasm for continuous lifelong development of this knowledge. In the admission process, these abilities will be verified through academic testing of language skills and specialized subjects, and the students’ goals, research motivations, and knowledge of specialized fields will be ascertained through interviews, with only applicants reaching a certain standard admitted.

Curriculum Policy

[Doctoral Course] Veterinary Medicine

This course shall carry out education that promotes creative development in veterinary medicine and related fields, and applies these results to research.
  • Foster students capable of self-motivated issue identification, and able to apply extensive, flexible problem solving techniques to deliver comprehensive decisions. These students shall be future leaders in the next generation of education and research, and to this end must accumulate practical experience in research and debate, with special focus on practical seminars and veterinary medicine research experiments.
  • Promote learning of advanced knowledge and technologies in the rapidly developing and changing fields of veterinary medicine and related sciences. Furthermore, carry out special lectures on fields of specialty and international veterinary information science that will be necessary in the globalizing societies of today and tomorrow.

Diploma Policy

[Doctoral Course] Veterinary Medicine

Degrees shall be awarded to students with proven extensive, in-depth specialized knowledge of advanced fields and technologies and comprehensive reasoning and decision-making abilities, who further possess wholesome, well-developed character, respect for life, and social responsibility, and who also demonstrate the following abilities.
  • The abilities to earnestly seek solutions to problems, contribute to education and research in the fields of veterinary medicine and related sciences, and furthermore develop upon this research and assertively seek applications in society.))
  • The ability to act as a leader with international perspective in the next generation of veterinary medicine education and research.
